The Hidden Aesthetics of Woodenware

When we talk about a good piece of wooden tableware, what are we really talking about?

A hand-polished wooden spoon, a tray with tiny chisel marks—they are neither cold nor reflective, supporting food and the everyday routine of life. Natural and not rushed.
When modern kitchens are filled with stainless steel and fine ceramics, the beautiful natural energy of wooden utensils may be overlooked, stemming from the material itself and its elements.

Besides being aesthetically pleasing, wooden tableware has also subtly changed our dining psychology.

Natural wood is cool to the touch and provides peace of mind against drops.

  •  When serving hot soup or freshly cooked dishes, the wooden tray will not burn your hands, and the wooden spoon will always be gentle on your lips.

Woodenware brings a gentle auditory quality to the table, acting as a natural muffler.

  • Have you ever noticed the harsh clatter when ceramic and stainless steel collide? It can unconsciously speed up our eating or cause anxiety. In contrast, wooden forks and spoons produce a low, solid sound—a tone that instantly calms the mind.

When purchasing wood products, the first step is to understand the "character" of the wood.

Both black walnut and cherry wood are hard, able to withstand everyday scratches and bumps from knives and forks; at the same time, they are also flexible, allowing for delicate carving with a carving knife and are not prone to cracking.
Cherry wood and walnut wood are microporous or semi-closed-pore woods. They do not easily absorb food juices and have the ability to resist odors and stains.
Wooden tableware must undergo frequent cycles of "serving food, washing with water, and drying" in alternating wet and dry conditions. Both types of wood have low shrinkage rates, stable fiber structures, and are less prone to severe warping or cracking.

  • Sundayware Cherry Wood

New woodwork has a soft, pale pink or creamy yellow hue, with a fine, silky texture. It is highly sensitive to light; As you continue to use it and expose it to sunlight, its color will gradually transform into a charming deep reddish-brown.

  • Sundayware Black Walnut Wood

With its signature chocolate hue and sweeping, parabolic grain patterns, black walnut exudes a quiet, understated elegance. It is hard and structurally stable.
